July 24, 2010 - Fun in the Park

In it’s 10th year, the Annual Fun in the Park Festival grew out of Wilsonville Celebration Days in October of 2000, transitioning from a pioneer-focused Boones Ferry Days that ran from 1970 through 1999. Fun in the Park is a unique FREE festival and wholesome celebration of a “community coming together” through collaborative efforts of businesses, churches, clubs, civic groups, and practices to amuse, entertain, educate, and delight.

CREATIVE
Creative fun has been a staple of Fun in the Park from its beginning. Patient volunteers provide the makings and guidance for a variety of fun crafts that involve a personal touch of color, creativity and/or craftiness - leading to a smile of satisfaction from young creators.

CREATURE-LY
Taken all together, animals at Fun in the Park from over the years would form quite a menagerie. Festival favorites of late have been Reptiles and Birds.

DECORATIVE
Body art and "dolling up" are typical festival favorites, and Fun in the Park has six venues in this category of festooning oneself for show.

ENTERTAINING
Shade canopies beckon in front of the main stage for a fast paced, fun filled variety of entertainment.

INFORMATIVE
Learning can be fun as 12 organizations bring timely safety tips, demonstrations, specialty vehicles, and much more.

LIVELY
These are the 14 "big muscle" attractions, mostly of the inflatable variety, that add thrills and squeals of delight to the festivities.

REACTIVE
You can’t help bumping into professional entertainers (we call "roving revelers") who ply their grin-producing skills throughout the park.

SPORTIVE
Whether by skill, chance or simple amusement, players will win a plethora of prizes at many of the 25+ sporty games offered by 17 different organizations.

TASTY & TEMPTING
Most of Fun in the Park is FREE, including the aroma from a 16 food & snack vendors, but cash will be needed to satisfy hunger. An additional 25-30 vendors will tempt attendees with their products or services. For more info, please visit: www.funinthepark.info
